NLC Academy 2027
A school for yoga teachers
New Love City is excited to announce NLC Academy—our very first advanced yoga training. We know that a foundational yoga teacher training is just scratching the surface of all things yoga and we are thrilled to bring you a moduled training that gives students the opportunity to go deep into the subjects that really inspire, challenge or energize you. Each module will be offered on its own, you can complete any or all of them. The modules will range from 10-30 hours individually. With the exception of the Bhagavad Gita training we ask that each student have completed their foundational yoga teacher training before signing up.
Training Modules
Bhagavad Gita :: One Battle After Another
Led by Conor Yates
January 4-February 3
5 weeks / 30 hours
Mondays & Wednesdays 6:30-8:30pm (via Zoom)
What does the Bhagavad Gita have to say about the way we actually live? How do we navigate uncertainty, make difficult choices and stay grounded when life doesn’t go according to plan?
Join Conor for this 30-hour online course, where we’ll take a close reading of the Bhagavad Gita, exploring its teachings through the lens of everyday life. Together, we’ll unpack key passages, ideas and philosophical questions. From there considering what this ancient text might have to teach us about relationships, work, responsibility, desire, grief, identity and finding equanimity in the midst of it all.Through discussion, reflection, practice and independent study, we’ll move beyond simply learning what the Gita says to asking how its teachings can actually change the way we live.

About the Teacher
Conor has been reading and re-reading the Gita since he was 10 years old. His first copy was a comic book, and he received his first complete instruction from Baba Hari Das as a teenager. More recently, Conor completed a course in the Bhagavad Gita at the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies with Dr. Nicholas Sutton in July 2023.

Led by Edie Shipler
February 17-March 21
5 weeks / 30 hours
Wednesdays 6:30-8:30pm (via Zoom)
Sundays 1-5pm (in studio)
Join Edie for a deeper dive into the anatomical world of yoga. Learn about anatomy and physiological concepts and how they apply to your individual yoga practice as well as teaching your students. Learn techniques to invite your students into advanced postures that they will understand and feel confident to try. Feel more confident in troubleshooting modifications for students with injuries within the scope of a yoga teacher. We will look at the application of exercise science and how it can be used to teach an informative yoga class.
Wednesday evenings will be lecture driven while Sundays will be more workshop oriented with a movement component focused on the material covered that week followed by discussion and implementation of training concepts. We ask all applicants to have received their foundational yoga teacher training certificate.
